Luke Rockhold and Yoel Romero fought at UFC 221 at the Perth Arena in Perth, Australia. It was initially an interim UFC middleweight championship fight because champ, Robert Whittaker had to withdraw. However, Romero missed weight, coming in nearly three pounds over the middleweight limit. As a result, Romero was ineligible to win the interim title. Regardless, they fought and Rockhold got knocked out in the third round.
Since Romero missed weight, the interim title remained unclaimed despite his victory. This fight marked a turning point in Rockhold’s career. He eventually moved up to the light heavyweight division to fight Jan Blachowicz at UFC 239.
Luke Rockhold picks the winner in Jon Jones vs. Tom Aspinall title fight
Jon Jones has been out for a while after he took over the heavyweight division last year. ‘Bones’ has made it clear that he intends to take on Stipe Miocic when he comes back. However, interim champion, Tom Aspinall who has pushed for a fight with Jones for the longest time is a strong contender as well.

Luke Rockhold recently did an interview with Helen Yee Sports. He talked about the highly anticipated showdown between Jones and Aspinall and who would win that fight.
That’s a tough fight, you’ve got to favor Jon Jones but Aspinall is a wild card… He’s English, so you know he can’t wrestle that good but that’s the problem, Jon Jones is still a great wrestler. He can put people down. We know French guys can’t wrestle, we know English guys can’t wrestle so I favor Jon Jones but Aspinall is still a wild card.

However, Rockhold did acknowledge Aspinall as being loose, fast, and athletic. He pointed out that Jones had problems in his last few fights at light heavyweight. Meanwhile, he gave Aspinall his due credit who ‘moves like a light heavyweight but has the power of a heavyweight’.
