Ever since Dwayne Johnson, aka The Rock, joined TKO Group Holdings, the parent company of WWE, as a member of the board of directors, he has made a healthy amount of WWE appearances in the past year. An update from Fightful Select indicates that WWE is a priority for the 52-year-old. Moreover, higher-ups in the company claim that The Great One is a part of their family.
He’d continue appearing on WWE programming when he’s able to do so. Additionally, The Brahma Bull is expected to be present for Raw’s debut on Netflix on January 6, 2025. The buzz is there internally. Rock’s longtime WWE rival John Cena has already committed for that show. It’d be interesting to see if the Black Adam star follows suit.
Having already made his in-ring after 8 years at WrestleMania XL, Johnson is lined up for another blockbuster showdown in 2025. WrestleVotes previously reported that WWE is discussing a triple threat match that’d pit The Rock, Roman Reigns, and Cody Rhodes against one another at WrestleMania 41.
Shortly after this came out, veteran journalist Dave Meltzer claimed that Dwayne wouldn’t be able to work WrestleMania owing to his Hollywood schedule. However, it all went down the drain once the Jumanji actor himself debunked the report, saying it was bullsh*t. In hindsight, the former World Champion had basically confirmed himself to be a part of WrestleMania in Las Vegas earlier this year.
In a post-Mania check-in video, Rock first updated his well-being, saying he didn’t catch any injury. But his body had taken a toll, which was quite obvious. He even hailed Seth Rollins as the MVP of WrestleMania 40, later adding that he had set his sights on next year’s show of shows.
When did The Rock last appear in WWE?
It still hasn’t lost on anyone how The Rock arrived in the dying moments of the Bad Blood PLE, stared down everyone, and left. A follow-up from Fightful notes that WWE didn’t plan on pulling it off for months.
However, that became a possibility as the show ticked closer. Also, Rock being in Atlanta that weekend for a high school football game also helped. Fightful confirmed that it was why Roman Reigns & Cody Rhodes vs. Solo Sikoa & Jacob Fatu ended up headlining the show.
Since then, there have been no traces of The Final Boss. But as alluded to earlier, he’d show up whenever he could buy some time out of his ironclad Hollywood itinerary. He might not be back for the rest of 2024. Though there’s a rumor that he may just pull up to Survivor Series at the conclusion of the Bloodline civil war inside WarGames.
