It might take a few weeks before Roman Reigns comes back to claim his yard. On Raw after WrestleMania 41, The OTC was rocked by a couple of Bron Breakker spears. Already gasping for air was CM Punk, who was foiled by Seth Rollins as the Chicagoan almost got his hands on Paul Heyman. Most importantly, the return status of Punk and Reigns remains uncertain, more so for The OTC than the Chicago native.

Speaking of Reigns, he’s expected to re-emerge on WWE programming in early June, per WrestleVotes. It does mean that the 39-year-old is more than likely to skip the Backlash PLE, a week from this Saturday. The fans were expecting The Big Dog to not fade into hibernation post-WrestleMania. But it hasn’t been lost on anyone that he’s working a part-time schedule.

Reigns followed similar trajectory in 2024 when his Island of Relevancy got erased by a man who moved heaven and earth to finish his story—Cody Rhodes. After dropping the Undisputed WWE title to The American Nightmare, the former Shield member went on a hiatus and didn’t return until SummerSlam. The case is slightly different this time around.

The Anoa’i clan stalwart, as aforementioned, might claw his way back in a month, just in time for the Money in the Bank PLE on June 7. Is that where Reigns finally puts his differences aside with Punk to avenge his beatdown on both Rollins and Breakker? Time will tell.

The Tribal Chief and The Best in the World were slapped with unceremonious betrayals from Paul Heyman in the main event of WrestleMania (Night 1). The Mad Genius bestowed his allegiance on The Visionary in a shocker.

Roman Reigns’ WrestleMania account screams of once-in-a-lifetime achievement

By headlining the opening night of WrestleMania this year, Roman Reigns bolstered his resume. The Florida native has now closed out WWE’s version of the Super Bowl an unprecedented ten times. Not only that, the former Bloodline boss holds an impressive 6-4 win/loss record in these matches. At WrestleMania XL, Reigns surpassed Hulk Hogan, who at the time, was tied with The Big Dog at 8 WrestleMania main events.

There’s absolutely no reason why Reigns couldn’t improve what is already a utopian dream for many. Before competing in that electric triple-threat showdown against Seth Rollins and CM Punk in Vegas, The OTC caught up with Vanity Fair. Diving into his immediate wrestling future, Reigns claimed that his ongoing WWE contract would be up after next year’s WrestleMania in New Orleans.

But would that be it for The Tribal Chief? No, actually. However, Reigns did mention that he could go for barely a year or two after the Big Dance in NOLA, not more. The once-hated poster boy of WWE then broached transitioning into a less physical form of entertainment, which could be Reigns subtly hinting at his Hollywood aspirations.

Was Roman Reigns ever pushed to become a wrestler?

Former WWE Chair Stephanie McMahon had both the iterations of The Bloodline the fans witnessed on TV on her ESPN special, Stephanie’s Places. Sami Zayn and Paul Heyman were also a part of the conversation. In an excerpt from episode 6, Roman Reigns could be heard talking about how he never intended to become a wrestler from the get-go.

The 6-time World Champion said that he dreamt of carving his own path, which to him was a career in football. While Reigns’ late father Sika loved his son’s passion for something outside of wrestling, the former Wild Samoan wanted The OTC to wrestle just as badly.

However, as most of the Bloodline members claimed, they were never forced by their elders to pursue a career in the business that remains ingrained in their dynasty. At one point, Jey Uso mentioned that his son keeps asking him if he and Uso would ever get to have a father-son moment between those ropes like Rey Mysterio and Dominik Mysterio.
