Football pundit and former Premier League player Graeme Souness showed no mercy to Manchester United and Kobbie Mainoo in his assessment of the way things are run at the club. The Frenchman is known for being extremely critical of clubs and to make harsh comments on players.

His most recent subject of critique was Mainoo and the way things are run at Old Trafford. In a blunt review of the happenings at the club, Souness compared United to the way Bayern Munich are treated in Germany.

It is FC Hollywood. If anyone shows anything, they're put into superstardom category way before they become a good player. Mainoo might be a player one day, but he's certainly not the go to man in midfield they're making him out to be.
Graeme Souness told TalkSport

Mainoo was directly responsible for Liverpool‘s third goal as the Red Devils lost 3-0 to Liverpool at Old Trafford. The Englishman was powered off the ball in a vulnerable area near midfield by Alexis Mac Allister before Mohamed Salah fired past Andre Onana to make it 3-0.

Manchester United bid farewell to key figure in summer transfer window operations

Manchester United have been undergoing a massive overhaul in terms of management and structure ever since INEOS took over the club. Even though Erik ten Hag maintained his position as manager, the club has witnessed the departure of several players and staff alike. Recently, the Red Devils parted ways with Andy O’Boyle, a key figure in the club’s transfer decisions this season.

United have been more than busy in the summer transfer window. Having made a total of five signings and departures worth more than £100 million, many felt that the club are in the right track. However, O’Boyle’s departure has raised questions regarding the direction in which United are looking to steer the club. From Leny Yoro to Matthijs de Ligt, Noussair Mazraoui and Manuel Ugarte, United have had an amazing transfer window.

Ruling out unfortunate injuries, it remains to be seen how the signings will turn out. O’Boyle operated as the Deputy Director of Football at the club and was one of the few people that INEOS retained from the Glazers ownership. While many argued that O’Boyle’s departure was solely for the reason mentioned above, Ten Hag still being at the club contradicts the same.
