Novak Djokovic and Jannik Sinner practiced at Wimbledon’s prestigious Centre Court ahead of their campaign. The session was a further step to examine Djokovic’s fitness for the grass major tournament.

Several years ago, Centre Court remained untouchable until Wimbledon began, with only the Top 2 men’s and women’s players allowed to train there. However, even then, only members of the All-England Club were permitted access. Now, the Top 2 can train on Centre Court before the tournament starts.

Nonetheless, part of the major reason for Djokovic practicing with Sinner was because the duo would play all their matches at the Centre Court. The two Top seeds might also meet at one stage as the competition gets along.

This privilege was not available for Martina Navratilova, who is dubbed the queen of Wimbledon. She won the singles title nine times during her career. Hence she was quick to remark her take on the recent practice of the top two seeded players on the Centre Court.

This I am jealous about- getting to practice in Centre Court!

Sinner went on to win the practice session 6-3, 1-2, as they both gear for Wimbledon. Djokovic finished as runners-up, while Sinner lost to the Serbian in the semifinals last year.

Djokovic has recovered from the right knee injury that he suffered during the French Open. The 37-year-old arrived at Wimbledon early in a bid to be fit. Today, he was cleared to play in the tournament for the 19th time in his career.

I can tell you that pain-free tennis is the best tennis. I was pain-free and I’m really glad. It was a great test obviously against one of the best players in the world.
Novak Djokovic said via The Independent.

Djokovic will be aiming to win his eighth Wimbledon and 25th Grand Slam despite turning 37 last month. Even though he is yet to win a title this season, the Serbian is known for pulling surprises at events he has been doubted.
