Henry Cejudo is one of the most successful fighters in UFC history, becoming one of the few athletes to win two titles simultaneously. The fighter is also a former Olympian, proving his elite athletic background and unmatched dedication throughout his professional career. However, his recent description by Hollywood legend Matt Damon has gone viral, capturing the essence of a real MMA fighter.

Matt Damon and Ben Affleck recently joined Joe Rogan on his podcast following the release of their new movie. During the conversation, the trio discussed several topics, including changes in storytelling, audience expectations, and the evolution of movies across different generations. Later, Damon recalled meeting Henry Cejudo at a UFC event and shared his initial thoughts about the fighter.

He’s in chinos, like khaki pants, and a blue button-up business shirt with spectacles. He’s very small, and I kind of don’t really regard him, and I’m still hearing this story. Then Patrick goes, ‘Matt, do you know Henry?’ I turn, and it’s Henry Cejudo. And I’m like, ‘This (expletive) guy could wreck me, right? Absolutely (expletive) destroy me.

The discussion started when Rogan mentioned that most top fighters don’t look or act intimidating in real life. Damon seconded it by giving the example of Henry Cejudo. ‘Triple C’ stands 5 feet 4 inches, yet consistently defeated taller, heavier champions on different occasions.

The Arizona native outwrestled Demetrious ‘Mighty Mouse’ Johnson twice, shocking fans by neutralizing range advantages with timing and perfectly calculated takedown entries. Against T.J. Dillashaw, he showcased explosive power, dropping another longer opponent quickly and proving that size rarely determines elite competitive outcomes.

Cejudo also stopped Marlon Moraes, surviving early adversity before overwhelming a taller striker with clinch strength and elbows. Despite incredible success, Cejudo never enjoyed a smooth relationship with the UFC or CEO Dana White throughout his career. White was openly disappointed when Cejudo retired early, believing the double champion wasted his absolute competitive prime.

Cejudo eventually returned, hoping to reclaim glory, but suffered four consecutive defeats that permanently damaged his legendary reputation. Although the comeback failed, his determination earned respect from fans who admired his courage and willingness to face elite competition.

However, he did face mockery from fighters like Sean O’Malley, who claimed that Cejudo was bankrupt and needed the UFC paycheck. In his final UFC appearance, White rewarded Cejudo with a $50K bonus, acknowledging his lasting contribution. Apart from fighting, Cejudo does have a successful podcast with UFC veteran Kamaru Usman, where he seems to be busy.

UFC fighters who didn’t look intimidating, yet completely dominated the game

UFC is the pinnacle of MMA, where genetically gifted fighters like Jon Jones showcase extraordinary adaptability and a long successful career. However, similar to Henry Cejudo, several champions dominated despite disadvantages, proving that grit often outweighs physical limitations.

Daniel Cormier exemplified this mindset, defeating larger heavyweights through relentless wrestling, intelligent pressure, and unwavering confidence. His two-division championships, legendary rivalry with Stipe Miocic, and Olympic pedigree cemented his status among all-time great competitors.

Khabib Nurmagomedov often playfully mocked Cormier, yet constantly praised his toughness and technical brilliance during interviews. Sean O’Malley also fits this bracket, with confidence, timing, and striking artistry to overcome expectations and redefine modern stardom. O’Malley lacks a traditionally muscular physique and often gets mocked for his lanky frame by critics across social media.

However, his striking power remains terrifying, proven when he knocked out Aljamain Sterling to become the undisputed UFC bantamweight champion. Demetrious Johnson lacked intimidating size, yet his speed and grappling mastery made him one of the greatest champions in MMA history. Together, these fighters prove UFC athletes need intelligence and heart as much as raw physical gifts and genetics.
