“Mentally a lot stronger than he was years ago,” Guenther Steiner impressed with Kevin Magnussen’s capabilities

Guenther Steiner and Kevin Magnussen
Haas Team boss Guenther Steiner and Kevin Magnussen have been working together for a long time with a short gap in between. Nevertheless, Kevin has been an integral part of the team and has contributed a lot towards the American outfit’s success. The team dropped both Kevin and Romain at the end of the 2020 season as they wanted to make way for new talent who would also bring sponsors with them.
This seemed like it would have been Kevin Magnussen’s last chance driving a Formula 1 car but thankfully it wasn’t. Haas got two new rookies for the 2021 F1 season as Mick Schumacher and Nikita Mazepin partnered up. However things did not go well and the American team was in a bad shape. With the ongoing tension between Russia and the world, the team further terminated Mazepin’s contract.
To replace Nikita, Guenther Steiner called upon Kevin Magnussen to do the honours and he surely did as fans were shocked to see how well the Danish driver was performing after being out of training for a long time. One of the key things that Guenther pointed out about Kevin was his maturity and his attitude that changed so much since his return to the team.
Guenther Steiner praises Kevin Magnussen

In an interview with Motorsport.com , here is what the team boss had to say about Kevin. “It’s age, being a dad, being called back instead of begging to get a seat is a different story as well,” he said. “It plays with your mind as well. It gives a lot of confidence. This is a lot about how you are mentally strong. I think at the moment, he’s just mentally a lot stronger than he was years ago,” he continued.
Kevin Magnussen will partner up with Nico Hulkenberg in 2023 as Haas chooses experience over youngsters. Seems like the team is doing the exact opposite of what their strategy was for the 2021 season and it looks like this time out, they will finally perform better. It’s all to play for in 2023 as the team competes to get out of the bottom 3 in the championship standings.
