Messi not at his best according to Koeman

Lionel Messi has been going through a rare patch of bad form and so far has got 1 goal and 0 assists. This will worry the Barcelona chiefs after they opted to force Lionel Messi to stay at Barca. However, the hope is that he is only adjusting to a new formation and style of play and will soon start delivering.

Koeman agreed that Messi is not at his best but is confident that he will recover his form. Koeman added, “Maybe Messi’s form could be better at this moment, but he’s happy, he’s training well, he’s focused, he wants to play and he wants to be captain of the team and he’s improving. I haven’t got any complaints.”

He also suggested that Messi was a bit unlucky and said, “He also had bad luck with the ball that hit the post and with the final play of the match. Normally, he puts it between the posts! I have no doubt about his form and we’ll see that in the coming games.”

Koeman also believes that other players of the team need to run more so that Messi can be successful. Speaking to UEFA’S website he added, “We have Messi in the team, and the rest, they need to do a lot of work, a lot of running, because then Messi can still be the best player in the world. And that means every player playing in their position, playing to the qualities of the player.”

Koeman has been talking tough and not messing around at Barca. He seems to have showed all the players at the club that he’s one with the final say on matters. So he will hoping that Barcelona can make a winning start to their champions league campaign against Ferencvaros on Tuesday.
