In Short
  • LeBron James is recognized as a dominant figure in the NBA, even at age 41.
  • Michael Beasley praises LeBron as a "winner in life," highlighting his billionaire status.
  • LeBron has led the Lakers to a 2-0 playoff series lead, maintaining a perfect record after winning the first two games.

Over the past few years, Los Angeles Lakers superstar LeBron James has continued to dominate nearly every other statistical column available on the NBA’s stat page.

He may not have come close to winning another championship or even a league MVP award to further his chances of overtaking Michael Jordan as the undisputed GOAT, but he has won elsewhere.

Even at age 41, the Akron native is still the league’s most recognizable face. The NBA has tried to promote others to eventually take his place, but that has not yet happened.

His most important rivals, Stephen Curry and Kevin Durant, have not fared any better on the win column. That is why the father of three continues to hog the limelight no matter how he plays.

When it comes to winning life in music, it’s Drake. In sports, it’s LeBron James. I don’t care how much you hate this guy. He’s a billionaire playing basketball.

The former second-overall pick was answering a question from Club Shay Shay host Shannon Sharpe. It was whether LeBron James’ diet and conditioning influenced Michael Beasley.

The former Miami Heat forward made it clear that, considering what his former teammate has done in his life, it is clearly evident that he and his methods have proven to be winners.

Dominating the league’s stats, along with becoming a billionaire, are things no other active athlete has been able to do. Michael Beasley has in the past labeled LeBron James as his GOAT. His explanation probably points to his logic behind that decision.

LeBron James could continue winning

LeBron James has made it no secret that his career is winding down. The real question is how long, as the oldest player in the league has continued to prove that he has not slowed down.

In the games since Luka Doncic and Austin Reaves suffered injuries, the four-time champion has taken the onus and led the Los Angeles Lakers to three straight regular-season wins and two postseason ones.

Gone are the narratives that the franchise is better off without him. Now, they are replaced by notes of admiration for his ability to galvanize his teammates and lead them by example.

Those two playoff wins have come against a Houston Rockets team featuring a deep and capable roster that many felt would ensure the Lakers end their season within four games.

Instead, the men in purple and gold are leading the series 2-0. The irony is that historically, James has not lost a playoff series when he has led his respective teams to win the first two games.

He has called for his teammates to maintain their focus heading into Houston. But if this statistic holds up, then LeBron James could add a first-round win to his list of accolades. Most importantly, it was with a team featuring glorified role players.

Veteran analyst details how LeBron James is different from Michael Jordan

Even if LeBron James loses a game or two, it seems the cloud of negative narratives has parted to where light is shining through. Colin Cowherd believes no one in NBA history can be compared to what the Lakers’ superstar is doing at his age.

When Michael Jordan got old, he got resentful, bitter, and teammates didn’t want to play with him. But when Brady & LeBron got old, they were energized by the young guys around them.

Collin Cowherd said on The Herd

The analyst believes that James’ only comparison is NFL legend Tom Brady, who, like the NBA superstar, continued to excel late in his career. On the other hand, it is different from how Michael Jordan was at that age.
