Michael Bisping witnessed Luke Rockhold returning to the win column at Karate Combat 45. Both UFC legends are 1-1 against each other. 45-year-old Bisping recently declared his desire to compete against Rockhold again. However, what is interesting is that their rematch would not be in the UFC or an MMA octagon. Here is what Michael Bisping said:
Michael Bisping recently sat down for a conversation with Anthony Smith on his Believe You Me podcast. During their discussion, Bisping said Rockhold was the only opponent who could entice him to return from retirement. He hinted at Karate Combat as the potential stage for his return.
Luke Rockhold [vs. Joe Schilling], I was doing a live to it, and everyone was like, ‘You’ve got to do the trilogy.' I’ll do Karate Combat against Luke Rockhold, I’ll do it, I’ll do it. I will have a trilogy with Luke Rockhold in Karate Combat, I would love to.Michael Bisping via YT
Rockhold recently secured a knockout victory over Joe Schilling at Karate Combat 45. The fight lasted three rounds, and Rockhold knocked out an American kickboxing legend. Bisping had live-streamed the event on his YouTube channel. It was this live stream that Bisping brought up when he proposed a trilogy match against Rockhold in Karate Combat.
Michael Bisping and Luke Rockhold had an intense rivalry back in the day. In their first showdown, Rockhold submitted Bisping with a guillotine choke. Almost two years later, they faced off again at UFC 199. This time, Bisping walked away with a first-round knockdown win and Rockhold’s belt.
Michael Bisping warns Islam Makhachev of wanting to fight Leon Edwards
Islam Makhachev recently made headlines when he declared he wanted to become a double champion. The Dagestani champion said that the lightweight division currently had no worthy opposition. However, UFC veteran Michael Bisping does not agree with the lightweight champion.
Bisping recently commented on Makhachev’s potential move to the welterweight division. Michael Bisping warned Islam Makhachev on his YouTube channel against facing welterweight champion Leon Edwards.
He wants a shot to become the two-weight champion. But be careful what you wish for because Leon Edwards, right? Leon "Rocky" Edwards is an absolute sniper in there, and look at what he just did to Colby Covington.Michael Bisping via YT
Bisping believes Islam Makhachev’s comments were only to garner attention for his return at UFC 302. According to Bisping, there is hefty opposition that will give Makhachev a tough fight in the lightweight division. Makhachev has an upcoming fight against Dustin Poirier at UFC 302. Is Islam Makhachev really that good that nobody in the lightweight division can defeat him? Only time will tell.
