Bats are one of the smallest creatures to exist in the game and can fit right through a hole one block tall. They are passive creatures that are found in caves and attack no other creature.

Players can often heart them squeaking and screeching in Caves. they aimlessly fly around and can sometimes fly inside lava by mistake as well! One of the lesser known facts is that, bats tend to fly toward the east more!

Bats often rest by perching upside down under solid blocks and cover themselves with their wings. In this idle position they rest and do not move. However, if a player get too close to them, they will start flying around again.
