Minecraft Beehive: All you need to know!
Minecraft had introduced Bees way back, even before the Nether updates and since the the condition of living for them have definitely scaled up. In this article we take a look at the Minecraft Beehive and how to make one!
The Bees in Minecraft are a neutral mob that will make players honey if provided with flowers but will also sting them if they go too near! They were usually found in Bee nests found in the wild, which are the natural homes for bees. But these were not craftable and thus the developers have introduced a new structure for bee farm enthusiast.

Minecraft Beehive
Minecraft Beehives are the player-crafted version of the bee nests which can house up to 3 bees and also produce honey and honeycombs. Once these are made, players no longer need to undertake the dangerous process of collecting honey from bee nests. However, during the initial phase of crafting beehive, players need some items that can only come from naturally spawning bee nest.
Uses
Players can use Minecraft Beehives for two main things in the game:
It can be used to store and nest bees, up to 3 bees per hive. They will enter an empty Beehive from the side, top or bottom. They do this during rain, night or when storing pollen.
It is used to farm honey and honey blocks as bees store honey inside using pollens from the flowers. This gives the player two items:
- Honey
- Honeycombs
At Honey level 5, the hive starts dripping honey, and players can harvest honey with a Glass bottle and honeycombs using Shears.
How to make a Minecraft Beehive?
Players need two main components to make a craft able Beehive and these are:
- Wooden Planks (any) x6
- Honey Combs x3
Wooden Planks can be found by processing Wooden blocks in the Inventory or the Crafting Table. On the other hand, Honey Combs can be found in Honey nests and by shearing them.
Combine the items in the Crafting Table in the manner shown above to make a Minecraft Beehive!
