  • Players can get Bone Meal from a variety of sources in the game:
  • Skeletons drop bones when killed and these can be processed into Bone Meal. Each Bone produces 3 Bone meals.
  • Fossils in Minecraft can be broken to get Bone Blocks and these produce 9 Bone Meals.
  • Fish have a chance of drop Bone meal when killed. In Bedrock they drop Bones instead.
  • Composters drop Bone meal when it goes up by one level.
  • Wandering Traders also have a chance to sell 3 Bone meals for an Emerald.

The Bone Meal is primarily used to grow crops and raise their growth level by one. Each plant has a varied growth speed and some plants may take more Bone meal to grow.

They are also an important in making White Dyes and applying different patterns on Banners and also to fireworks and dye-able blocks.

Players can also apply Bone Meal on a random grass block to grown tall grass, grass or flowers on it. They are random and so are their numbers.
