MJF corrects AEW for confusing his nickname with Baron Corbin (via AEW and WWE)
MJF recently returned to AEW after nearly five months of absence. The 28-year-old declared that he was done making friends, as he had been betrayed each time. He declared himself the Wolf of Wrestling and announced that he was coming for revenge. AEW was quick to launch new merchandise for the superstar based on his new nickname.
Following his appearance on Dynamite, the official AEW X account tweeted out a link to the merchandise and called Friedman a “lone wolf.” The former AEW World Champion replied to the post and corrected the account, saying that it was the wolf of wrestling. The Salt of the Earth further clarified that the ‘Lone Wolf’ persona had already been taken and tagged Baron Corbin, someone MJF respects a lot.
The former AEW World Champion made a historic return at Double or Nothing. He interrupted his former tag team partner, Adam Cole, and even pretended to hug him. However, he quickly laid him out with a low blow before calling for security to remove him from the ring.
It’s the Wolf of Wrestling. Lone wolf is taken.

The Dynamite Diamond Ring winner addressed the situation with his AEW contract. He confirmed to have re-signed with the Jacksonville-based promotion and even revealed a ‘Bet on Yourself’ tattoo with the company’s name. He declared himself the Wolf of Wrestling and assured fans that he was not going anywhere.
Wardlow calls out MJF for stealing his nickname
MJF was not the only AEW star to reply to that tweet. The nickname saga also did not sit well with the superstar’s former bodyguard and rival, Wardlow. The former TNT Champion was previously referred to as a wolf when he began his wrestling career. According to him, this was a clear infringement on his nickname.
The 36-year-old claimed that Friedman badly wanted to be a 6’3, 270-pound monster athlete like him. Thus, he accused him of stealing his identity. He said that The Two Year Vet could call himself a wolf all he liked, but he would always remain the person that Wardlow smashed like nothing.
Call yourself the “lone wolf” all you want. you’re still just a p***y that I squashed like nothing.
Wardlow
The Undisputed Kingdom member said that he almost felt bad for Friedman and called him a little boy. However, he claimed that the disrespect had now gone too far, and he would not sit idly by.
The three-time TNT Champion was once hired by Friedman to be his bodyguard. He was repeatedly abused by his employer, which led him to break out and get revenge. The rivals took each other on in a match at Double or Nothing 2022, which ended up with the former World Champion being squashed.
