When it comes to the Mount Rushmore of athletes, Tiger Woods often finds his name on it. However, on Friday, an MLB insider did not pick him. This led to an 8-time PGA Tour star calling him out on social media.

Woods, the 15-time major champion, is considered one of the greatest golfers of all time. The 50-year-old holds several records and dominated the game for a long time, cementing his place into the Golf Hall of Fame in 2021.

Despite this, MLB insider Jon Heyman did not pick him on his Mount Rushmore of athletes. In a post on Friday, he would laud Novak Djokovic following his semi-final victory over Jannik Sinner in the Australian Open.

The 38-year-old ended a run of five successive defeats against Sinner to reach his 11th Australian Open final.

Heyman would later laud him and name him alongside NBA superstar LeBron James, NFL great Tom Brady and MLB’s Shohei Ohtani on the Mount Rushmore of athletes of this century.

Novak Djokovic is on the Mount Rushmore of athletes this century. Brady, LeBron, Ohtani. And don’t @ me.

Fans would soon start debating this and expressed that Woods should have been on this list. 8-time PGA Tour winner Billy Horschel would later react to this.

The American was seemingly stunned to see his fellow golfer being left off this list. While reposting the tweet of Heyman, the World No.58 claimed that a guy named Tiger Woods would like to have a word with him.

At the moment, Woods is recovering from a back surgery that he underwent in October. The former World No.1 has not played competitive golf since the Open Championship in 2024 as he ruptured his Achilles tendon in March last year.

Last year, 4-time major champion and a fierce rival of Woods, Ernie Els, invited him to play on the Tour Champions. At the moment, it is not confirmed whether the 82-time PGA Tour winner will make an appearance on this circuit or not.

PGA Tour winner Tommy Gainey, who now plays on the Tour Champions, recently expressed that Woods might play on the senior circuit in May.

There’s been rumors he’s going to play out here. I don’t know if any of the golf fans in TV land or radio land have seen, but he signed a deal with Insperity… and Insperity have a tournament on the PGA Tour Champions. So, I’ll let people think maybe what they want to think on that, but that tells me that if he’s able to play, he’s going to play in that one.

Tommy Gainey said regarding Tiger Woods on SiriusXM PGA Tour Radio

Unlike most events on the PGA Tour, the PGA Tour Champions events consist of 54 holes. Golfers are also allowed to use a cart instead of walking all 18 holes. Given the health issues Woods has had, this could be beneficial for him.

While speaking with Golfweek, the 29-year-old claimed that she was having mixed feelings regarding this. Though she was happy to see them get an opportunity, she believed that with the creation of the WTGL, the TGL missed the chance of men and women playing together and unifying the game.

I have mixed feelings on it if I’m being very honest… I think it’s a huge and unbelievable miss that we’re not playing alongside the men. There’s no greater way to grow the game, and it would have been revolutionary.

Nelly Korda told Golfweek

LPGA stars Brooke Henderson, Charley Hull, Lydia Ko, Jeeno Thitikul, and Lexi Thompson have all signed for the WTGL. Korda, however, is yet to commit to this.

Speaking of the TGL, so far, all teams have played 2 games this season. While one of the co-founders, Rory McIlroy‘s team, Boston Common Golf, is top of the standings with two wins, Woods team, Jupiter Links GC are fifth with two losses and zero points.
