When he started his career in the MLB, young Alex Rodriguez was fascinated by Jennifer Lopez’s charm and immediately got attracted to her. Like every J-Lo fan gushing over her, Alex Rodriguez was no less. In the 1998 MLB season, A-Rod had a phenomenal season when he set the AL record for homers by a shortstop. This earned him an entry as the third member of the 40-40 club. He was also the Players Choice AL Player of the Year, won his second Silver Slugger Award, and finished ninth overall in the MVP voting.
Nevertheless, he never shied away from admitting his crush on public television. During an interview, when he was asked who his dream date would be, he replied,
“Jennifer Lopez. Hope you can find me a date with her.”
Well, dreams do come true, and crushes still remain constant, despite the number of relationships he had been in previously. J-Lo and Alex Rodriguez first met in 2005 at a Yankees game. At that time, both of them were married to different people.
They rekindled their friendship in 2017, which is when they started dating. J-Lo and A-Rod’s relationship has been the talk of Hollywood town ever since. When Alex Rodriguez appeared in the Tonight Show Starring Jimmy Fallon in 2020, this old clip resurfaced again. Both Jimmy and A-Rod were amused seeing that clip, to which Rodriguez reacted,

While dreams do come true, they are not always fully fulfilled. Alex Rodriguez broke the news when he proposed to J-Lo with a huge emerald-cut diamond ring with an estimated cost of $1-4 million. When the time came for their wedding, they had to postpone it due to the ongoing COVID-19 pandemic in 2020. In 2021, reports emerged that the couple had called off their relationship. Both A-Rod and J-Lo later confirmed that they had indeed split. The couple cited growing differences and contentions behind their unfortunate breakup.
