“Waved the White flag” Chaim Bloom’s trade deadline pursuit made Xander Bogaerts hesitant of the Red Sox insight

Chaim Bloom and Xander Bogaerts

Chaim Bloom is the General Manager of the Boston Red Sox, he traded Christian Vazquez to the Houston Astros and the other transaction had southpaw reliever Jake Diekman going to the National League’s Chicago White Sox, these decisions made Xander Bogaerts question the approach Boston Red Sox had for the future.

Xander Bogaerts was good friends with Vázquez, moreover, he was the first-person Vázquez approached when he found out about the trade as he knew the loss of a starting catcher with big-game chops was a head-scratcher. The reporters cornered him after Vazquez was traded and he was prepared with his choice od words on Chaim Bloom’s actions.

“The one for Vázqy, I mean, if you ask me, yeah. No one saw that coming. You obviously saw a lot of stuff coming out, but it doesn’t kick in until it really happens. And, obviously, Diekman going to the White Sox, so that was two pieces going out and nothing coming in. So, the first move was going out, then coming in.”

“I saw some of the things that he said. Even independent of that, he’s the first guy I want to talk to, really, in this clubhouse,” Chaim Bloom said, referring to the disappointments in the new roster according to Xander. “He was going through his pregame routine that I didn’t want to disrupt so we talked very briefly. But we’ll talk.”

“I had planned to do that even before the last couple of days unfolded, just wanting to be here after the trade deadline,” Chaim Bloom continued. “I think it’s important. I got here a couple hours ago. Obviously, a lot going on pregame. I don’t want to disrupt preparations for the game but was able to talk to a few guys and catch up with the staff. That was good.”

Chaim Bloom said he is planning upon gathering the group and addressing the team once it is at full strength Thursday in Kansas City. Bloom even mentioned that it’s important to him to have an open dialogue with players in the wake of an active deadline period.
