Former New York Yankees captain Derek Jeter is now back in the MLB in a completely different role. Replacing former White Sox hitter Frank Thomas, Jeter will now be an exclusive MLB analyst for Fox Sports alongside the likes of Alex Rodriguez, David Ortiz, and Kevin Burkhardt
Frank Thomas had been associated with Fox Sports for over a decade and has provided his expert analysis for some of Fox’s biggest pregame shows, which include the World Series and All-Star games over the years. Jeter will be taking his place from June onwards, marking his official debut for Fox Sports at the London Series.
Frank Thomas is one of the legendary players in MLB, a Hall of Fame inductee, and the only MLB player to have seven consecutive seasons with at least a .300 batting average. He started his career with the Chicago White Sox as their seventh overall draft in 1989. Since then, he has had five All-Star appearances, 2 times AL MVP, and has won the Silver Slugger Award four times in his career.

For the MLB fans of the current generation, Frank Thomas has been an integral part of the pre-game shows over the years. Since his retirement in 2008, Thomas has played a crucial role in some of the biggest pre-game shows for Fox. However, now with the arrival of Derek Jeter, seems like Fox is bidding the legendary White Sox hitter farewell.
Frank Thomas’ departure can be concluded from Fox’s analyst announcement for this season, which did not include his name. A spokesperson from Fox Sports told the New York Post, “Frank has been an integral member of the FOX MLB studio team for nearly a decade and has helped raise the bar on our coverage while continuously growing the game of baseball. Although he is not a part of our coverage this season, ‘The Big Hurt’ will always be a member of our Fox Sports family and we wish him all the best in his future endeavors.”
Derek Jeter was announced as the new Fox MLB analyst during the Super Bowl 57 broadcast. He will be reuniting with his Yankees teammate Alex Rodriguez. With Jeter joining, A-Rod seems quite elated and expresses his excitement saying, “I never thought in my wildest dreams we would be reunited.”
Jeter is looking forward to this new opportunity as he also awaits his chance to humble David Ortiz. Jeter says, “I was on set at the World Series in Philly, and Ortiz kept showing me his World Series rings, so I figured I’d join the team now so we could humble him a little bit.”
Jeter will debut as an analyst at the London Series, followed by the All-Star week in July, and play-offs in October.
