“WTF!”- MLB fans LAMBAST NY Yankees for Poverty-Stricken CGI, Parody Dragon clouds Bronx to promote House of the Dragon
CGI dragon in the Bronx
MLB- On Wednesday the 12th of October 2022, the New York Yankees played their first American League Division Series Games against the Cleveland Guardians. The New York Yankees emerged victorious, defeating the Guardians to a score of 4-1. Though the game would not go down in history for a Yankees win.
Wednesday’s match would go down in history, to be the first game in which a DRAGON flew over the Bronx. This flying dragon was part of a promotion of HBO’s “House of the Dragon” series, due to which a CGI version of a dragon hovered around the New York Yankees stadium. The CGI dragon from the “Game of Thrones” flew behind the announcer, hovering the people in the Bronx.
“You know, big sellout crowd here, but we weren’t 100 percent sure this game was going to be played tonight,” MLB announcer Bob Costas said following a commercial break.
MLB Twitter reactions to the DRAGON over the New York Yankees field
The CGI dragon for the promotion of the series “House of the Dragon” hovered the Bronx and over the heads of several New York Yankees’ and Cleveland Guardians’ fans. But according to most fans, this was a really stupid gimmick. MLB fans took to Twitter and criticized TBS for the stunt.
Fans wrote their minds on Twitter of what they felt about the promotion, and God they were not that positive. “This moment was so cringe. Shameless promo,” one user wrote. Another wrote “I just died a little inside.” “This is why Awful Announcing was invented,” wrote another. I don’t think this promotion went on to be quite as expected.
