You shouldn’t count your chickens before they hatch. Houston Astros did exactly the same and now they are rejoicing in winning the American League West Division title. They have been winning the championship even since 2017 with only 2020 being an exception, in which they trailed behind the Oakland Athletics.
The Houston Astros beat the Tampa Bay Rays 4-0 at Tropicana field to win their 5th AL West Division title in the last 6 years. This title added to the Astros’ total division titles making it 11 division titles in total: 5 AL West titles, 2 NL West titles, and 4 NL Central titles, with 6 consecutive postseasons for the first time.

Even though Justin Verlander had clinched the Houston Astros’ playoff spot on Friday. Jose Altuve‘s homer in the first inning on Monday against the Tamp Bay Rays, Luis Garcia’s 4 strikeouts, and Hunter Brown’s tremendous pitching in 3 innings all got together and made sure to secure the AL West Division title for the Astros’.
Currently, with the American League’s best record of the 2022 season, the Houston Astros’ are at 97-51, combining to a total of 531-324. Making Dusty Baker the only manager to win division titles with 5 different clubs. Indeed not celebrating after clinching a spot and waiting for the division title has played off for the Houston Astros.
