The rapid increase in technologies has seen it’s impact on sporting fields. The technique of interviewing players during the middle of a game has become a common factor now. In one such incident, Miguel Rojas stole the show. The Los Angeles Dodgers shortstop recorded a hilarious moment on Sunday against the San Francisco Giants, which is now going viral on the internet.
He was selected for the mic ‘d-up interview and was spotted chatting with the announcers and answering their questions. In the second inning of the game, the match was still scoreless when Rojas created this funny moment. He would excuse himself and make a sharp play to stop the batter from reaching the first base.
Rojas was in the middle of answering one of the questions when the ball came near him. He would pick up the ball quickly and throw it at first base to successfully record an out. While the play showcased another example of his fielding skills, it was the words he used during the play that became the center of attention and laughter among viewers.
“Sorry guys, I need to make this play real quick,” Rojas said while throwing the ball to first. This saw the broadcasters burst into laughter. He would later say thank you when one of them said that they were comfortable with it. “I need to make that play for Lynn. He’s gonna get mad at me if I don’t,” Rojas further added in his response.
LA Dodgers walk-off rivals SF Giants in extra innings through Chris Taylor
Usually, the matchup between the Los Angeles Dodgers and the San Francisco Giants is watched with more excitement. The two National League West teams have a huge rivalry between them. However, this season the Giants have not looked like their former self and have endured a difficult time. The same can be said about the Dodgers, who despite winning the divisional title have looked shaky at times. This game though turned out to be a late thriller as Chris Taylor ensured the victory.
As the postseason gets closer, the Dodgers could be forgiven for not playing about their standards. That was not the case though as they fielded well. Miguel Rojas’ stunning play while mic’d up had already got the attention of the viewers. The side kept the game tight and turned a huge double in the top of the tenth inning to keep themselves in the game.
Taylor would eventually seal the deal in the bottom of the tenth inning. A walk-off single in the right-center field. This allowed Amed Rosario to come home as he had already stolen the third base. This lifted the Dodgers to their 96th win of the season. With seven more games left to play for them, they would be hoping to cross the 100-win mark and become the second side after the Atlanta Braves to reach this figure.
