Talk about bad luck and it strikes. The past two weekends have been nothing less than a terrific nightmare for the New York Mets. While last weekend the Mets were defeated from the NL East title, and this weekend the San Diego Mets defeated the Mets by a score of 7-1. Jacob deGrom and Max Scherzer’s ghastly performance was one of the major reasons behind it.

While the New York Mets planned on having two of the best starters in MLB, Jacob deGrom and Max Scherzer, so that the team could reach new heights, but it seems as if the tables have turned. Max Scherzer had a horrible outing on Friday against the Padres, leading to the worst of his career. Max allowed 7 runs on 7 hits and four home runs.

“Baseball can take you to the highest of highs and the lowest of lows, and this is one of the lowest of lows,” Scherzer said late Friday night.

Things not going the way it should for the New York Mets

If things had gone as planned and The New York Mets had won their first game against the San Diego Padres, in hopes of winning two straight games. Then Jacob deGrom was reserved to start for an NL Division Series against the Dodgers. But as per the poor performance of the team deGrom will now start the second game against the Padres, with hopes of it not being his last start with the Mets.

“It’s a huge goal of mine to keep this thing going and pass it along to Bassitt [for a decisive Game 3 on Sunday],” deGrom said late Friday night.

Had the New York Mets won against the Atlanta Braves last weekend they would have clinched the NL East division title and would not require playing the best of three series against the Padres. Even a God without command is a mirror, and command was lacking with deGrom and Max Scherzer inclusively allowed five homers and seven runs in 11 ²/₃ innings.
