On Sunday night, the Kansas City Chiefs won their second straight Super Bowl title as they overcame the San Francisco 49ers by a score of 25-22. This triumph saw their star quarterback Patrick Mahomes pick up his third Super Bowl ring.
As he continues to ascend the stairs of super stardom, his father Patrick Mahomes Sr. once revealed how his son got inspired from MLB greats Alex Rodriguez and Derek Jeter. It is no secret that Mahomes Jr. is a baseball fan. This was evident earlier this season when the Chiefs star reunited with the former New York Yankees captain.

Another major reason for this has been his father’ connection to this particular sport. Mahomes Sr. spent several season as a pitcher in the major leagues. Due to this, the young Mahomes had access to MLB clubhouses. During one of this meet he would Rodriguez and Jeter.
At that time, the two former Yankees superstars were both on top of their game. Seeing them work hard could be something that ticked off the young kid as per his father.
He was able to be with A-Rod and meet Derek Jeter and be around guys of that nature who were on top of the game and he saw how hard they worked, and it was just something that always stuck with him. Being around those guys helped him when he decided to make football a career.Patrick Mahomes Sr. on his son being around with Alex Rodriguez and Derek Jeter as per TheShadowLeague.
Patrick Mahomes named Super Bowl MVP for a third time
During the Super Bowl LVIII in Las Vegas, Patrick Mahomes scripted yet another piece of history. He would led his side to their third Super Bowl title in five seasons with a game-winning touchdown in overtime to complete an epic comeback.
For his outstanding performance during this game, the 28-year-old was named the Super Bowl MVP for a third time. A man for the big occasions, Mahomes completed the game 34 of 46 for 333 yards, and picked up two touchdowns and had one interception.

This comes after he went through somewhat of a sub-par performance in the regular season. He was nowhere near the regular season MVP conversations. However, he stepped up when his team needed him the most as the Chiefs found themselves trailing 10-3 at halftime.
This brings an end to the football season. A year where there were several ups and downs and surprises, the Chiefs have once again come out on top.
Sports fans across the United States will now turn their attention towards the upcoming MLB season. Teams have started training together and are now preparing for the spring training as they look to get back in shape for another huge year ahead of them.
