“A new chapter”- Detroit Tigers announce former Giants GM Scott Harris as President of Baseball Operations

Scott Harris
The Detroit Tigers may have found a silver lining by hiring Scott Harris, former general manager of the San Francisco Giants as the new president of baseball operations to help them rebuild their game and revive sagging spirits.
With the right amount of qualification, knowledge and experience, 36-year-old Scott Harris has worked with many teams in the past and emerged as a well-known name in the field. Before working with the San Francisco Giants for three seasons, Scott Harris’ role as a general manager in the Chicago cubs led to the clubs winning of the World Series in 2016.
With the current situation in the club and the termination of their general manager Al Avila on August 11, the Tigers appear to be in a rough situation currently with a record of 55-91, the 4th worst in baseball. The entry of Scott Harris may be of utmost help and take the Tigers to new heights.

Christopher Ilitch says “I am impressed by Scott’s way of constructing a baseball organization to compete and win in the modern game.”
“Throughout this extensive search process, we were determined to find the best person to run our baseball operations,” Tigers chairman and CEO Christopher Ilitch said in a statement.
“His leadership ability is polished from both his experience as an executive at multiple levels and mentorship from some of the game’s most talented baseball operations leaders. We’re excited to welcome Scott to the Tigers family, and look forward to the bright future of our organization.”
Not only the Tigers and Christopher Ilitch are excited about Scott Harris’ new position in the Tigers family. Scott himself expressed his feelings: “This is an exciting day for me and my family, and I’m humbled by the opportunity to lead baseball operations for the Detroit Tigers”.
“The Tigers have a rich history and tradition as a charter member of the American League, and I can’t wait to get to work on the next chapter of Tigers baseball. I’d like to thank Chris Ilitch for believing in my vision for this organization and being so accommodating throughout the interview process.”
“I’d also like to thank Greg Johnson, Rob Dean, Farhan Zaidi, Larry Baer, and the entire Giants organization for their support over the last three years.”
