Vladimir Guerrero Jr. had only 1 home run in his last 25 games, teammates reminded him to hit one to reach the plateau of becoming the youngest Toronto Blue Jays player to reach 100 career Homeruns. He delivered on Wednesday as the Toronto Blue Jays defeated the Tampa Bay Rays 5-1.

Vladimir Guerrero slugged off Drew Rasmussen in the first inning, his 28th home run this 2022 season. He said that he planned to give his Hall of Fame father the ball from his milestone home run.

Blue Jays interim manager John Schneider was pretty confidence before the match started that Vladimir Guerrero Jr. would definitely put on the HR jacket soon, “You can compare it to his rookie year and see that he’s three years older and three years more mature,”

“And his work, his demeanor, all that stuff has been consistent. He’s handling it like a pro. … So yeah, I think it’s just a matter of time until he’s putting the [home run] jacket on again.”

“Every day that I get here to the field, the clubbies always remind me, ‘Hey, you need one more to 100. You need one more to 100,’” Vladimir Guerrero said through his translator Hector Lebron. “… You get a little bit aggressive; I can say that. But I guess that’s part of it.”
