Demetrious Johnson who recently went toe to toe with Rodtang Jitmuangnon in an insane battle at ONE X was the underdog in the fight.

Despite his victory over the One Flyweight Muay Thai Champion via rear-naked choke, Johnson recounts a backstage encounter that demonstrated why Rodtang is regarded as the toughest man in the sport.

Johnson said in an interview with Ariel Helwani on The MMA Hour, shares how he got the opportunity to talk to his fallen but an unfazed opponent. Demetrious Johnson said,” “I said ‘Rodtang, when I hit you, did it hurt?’ And he goes, ‘Nah.’ And then I go, ‘Did I hit as hard as all the other people you fight?’ And he goes, ‘it’s all the same.'”

Johnson expressed his dissatisfaction with the UFC’s current flyweight title picture, where Deiveson Figueiredo and Brandon Moreno are set to fight each other for the fourth time. He stresses how fighters should get newer opponents to tangle with in order to get a fresh perspective, and should not stress the title

On the MMA Hour Johnson tells, “Don’t chase the title. Don’t just try to run down the road and run into the same f***** roadblock, Fight somebody else, and maybe you’ll find something else in the other fights.”

He goes on to tell about how he disagrees with Paddy Pimblett and Sean O’Malley. The latter two fighters stated that unless the basic compensation that binds them to the UFC improves significantly, they will not fight anyone ranked in the top 15 of their weight category.

“Paddy Pimblett said, ‘Nah, I’m not going to fight anybody in the top 10, top 15.” I’m like, What?!? My mindset back in the day when I fought, Matt Hume (his coach) said, “We just f*cking fight.” That’s what we do. Don’t worry about the money. The money’s gonna come. Keep on fighting, keep on fighting,” says Johnson via the MMA Hour.
