Diego Sanchez is one of the most controversial fighters in MMA and mainly because of his feud with the UFC and how the two parties went separate ways. The fighter is now part of a new organization, Eagle FC, and Sanchez believes Khabib Nurmagomedov’s MMA promotion is the future of MMA.
After 15 years of fighting for the UFC, Diego Sanchez finally split from the biggest MMA organization on terrible terms after his feud with the promotion. The fighter is a veteran of the sport and was at the brink of his career end. However, former UFC lightweight champion Khabib Nurmagomedov’s promotion, Eagle FC opened the doors for “El Corazon de Leon”.
Diego will now headline an Eagle FC event on March 11 in Miami. Eagle FC 46 will be headlined by two former UFC fighters, Sanchez and Kevin Lee. Ahead of his fight, Sanchez talks to MMA Junkie about the Eagle FC and how it has the potential to overtake UFC in the world of MMA.
One of the main reasons why Sanchez believes Eagle FC will succeed is the owner of the promotion himself, Khabib Nurmagomedov. Sanchez says, “I think with what Khabib’s gonna bring with his team, the Russian connections, his Muslim connections, I see a real future at Eagle FC. I think they are gonna change this sport. You will see a lot of fighters going to the Eagle FC.”

Diego Sanchez says the UFC does not care about its fighters
UFC might be the biggest MMA promotion but recently, the company has been facing a lot of heat for mistreating its fighters and for not paying them rightly. Former UFC fighter, Diego resonates along with those accusations and says that the Ultimate Fighting Championship is built on greed.
“You can say what you want about them [UFC] man but they don’t give a sh*t about the fighters,” says Deigo Sanchez. “It is a greedy organization. It is based on greed and it runs on greed. It comes from the sin city…I helped with the expansion of the company and in the end, there was no love there…no family value.”
Diego Sanchez last fought in the UFC at UFC 253 in September 2020. That was his last professional fight. He lost the fight against Jake Mathews via decision and will be stepping into an octagon for the first time on March 11 in Miami.
