Khabib Nurmagomedov retired from the sport back in 2020 after defeating Justin Gaethje. He retired with an impressive record of 29-0, and his legacy is something every lightweight will be tested upon in the future. He started his own promotion Eagle FC, and is now working to expand his promotion, and bring out the best fighters from all around the world, and give them a chance to become the next big superstar.

Khabib has a very strong and good relationship with the UFC president Dana White, and now that Khabib is a promoter himself, people believe he will be competing with Dana, and their friendship won’t hold for long. Khabib, however, dismissed these rumors in his recent interview with ESPN, he said, “I don’t want to compete with someone. It’s not a secret that UFC is the best in the world. You know for almost 30 years, these guys have been doing great shows around the world. UFC is a very big brand. I do not want to compete with them or other promotions.“

He added, “I have my view and my principle. And may because it is just the beginning. I remember like one year ago, end of November, I bought Eagle FC so we only have 12 months. If you want to become big, we need like five to six years and we have to do around the world everywhere some events, sign a lot of fights. You know it is too early to talk about competing with some big fish and we are just beginning. And I’m very excited about this journey.”

And of course, we are going to sign a lot of fighters.”

Khabib then explained that dealing with management has been very tough during the Covid period, Khabib also lost his father to Covid, and he is now trying to live a normal life outside the octagon, he plans on bringing new talent from all around the world, and give them a platform to prove their worth, he said, “2020 and 2021, it was very hard for us.
