Rory retires with an MMA record of 23-10-1

Rory MacDonald will have a special place in the heart of MMA fans for the wars he’s provided us with. Be it his war against Robbie Lawler, his barnburner with Carlos Condit Or him absolutely ragdolling Nate Diaz, Rory has cemented his place in MMA.

At 33, the Canadian has announced that he’s walking away from the sport. This follows a string of losses with occasional wins. Before his second fight against Lawler, Rory boasted a respectable 18-2 record. Since then he’s gone on to be 23-10-1 throughout his days in the UFC, Bellator and PFL. He replicated his success in Bellator where he won the welterweight title, however, couldn’t do the same in the PFL.
it was his most recent loss to Dilano Taylor at PFL 8 that might have led to him finally having made up his mind. Rory lost the fight via a 1st round TKO.
