There is no doubt that Combat sports are one of the largest growing sports in the modern world. The influence of the sport has had a major impact on many fighters and prospects who make a living out of them. However, not every person is privileged enough to have access to training equipment. A recent video of African children being trained in a village with sandals as pads is going viral.
The video showed a man wearing sandals in his hands for pads with three children. The first child struck the sandals with a high and low kick and got back into a defensive position. However, the man himself held pads barefoot on the muddy ground. The video showed how a person could train whenever and however they wanted without excuses.
There have been many MMA fighters that have come from underprivileged backgrounds. One of the most prominent examples has to be Cameroonian fighter and former UFC heavyweight champion Francis Ngannou. Ngannou grew up in poverty. He started working in a sand quarry at the age of 10 to help support his family. He was also approached by several gangs in his village, but he refused to join them. Instead, he decided to pursue boxing as a way to escape his circumstances.
In addition to his accomplishments in MMA, Ngannou is also a successful businessman and philanthropist. He has his own clothing line and he has started a foundation to help underprivileged children in Cameroon.
