Cameroonian-French national Cedric Doumbe made his entrance into the PFL in style. In his first PFL appearance, Doumbe fought in his home country. French fans had high expectations for Doumbe. Nevertheless, he over-delivered on the night, knocking out his opponent, Jordan Zebo, in just 9 seconds. Many big celebrities attended the PFL event in Paris, including French footballer Kylian Mbappe. The French star, Kylian Mbappe, was stunned after witnessing such a brutal finish.
The crowd from Paris stood behind Doumbe, who didn’t disappoint them by putting on such a show. The sequence before the knockout started with Zebo throwing a high leg kick, which unfortunately got caught by Doumbe. In seconds, Doumbe started hammering Zebo to drop him on the canvas. Referee Marc Goddard intervened to award Doumbe the victory.
Before this eventful night, Doumbe had a stint in kickboxing. He reigned as the champion of Glory Kickboxing. The Frenchman amassed a record of 75-5-1 in kickboxing. However, his MMA record was 5-0 before his PFL debut. His PFL debut will be remembered for a long time. Previously, Doumbe was set to compete in the UFC back in 2022. However, the deal fell through due to issues with the French Sports officials. Later, PFL stepped in to secure the French star.
Doumbe’s appearance was the event’s highlight, from his walkout consisting of a mattress and pillow to his knockout finish. The world was left in shock, including some big names like Kylian Mbappe, Ousmane Dembele, and Achraf Hakimi, who attended the event in Paris. They play for Paris Saint-Germain, making it easier for them to attend the event.

An insight into Cedric Doumbe’s UFC deal fallout
The overnight PFL superstar could’ve done the same deed but just on a different platform. Back in 2022, Doumbe was set to sign with the UFC. However, due to some obstacles, the deal didn’t go through. In an interview, Doumbe gave his overview of why he chose PFL over UFC.
Doumbe revealed that the UFC deal did not happen due to a mistake in a doctor’s test. The Frenchman said that during his fights, he usually held some blood in his brain, which was normal for him. However, the UFC had other concerns about the test results. They deemed his MRI scan as potentially dangerous to the fighter’s health. Due to this misconception, the deal fell flat. Later, Doumbe also revealed that his UFC Paris appearance was canceled due to a rule in Paris Commission. This rule stated that any opponent with less than ten fights could only face someone with the same or near-equal record.
Due to such circumstances, the MMA fans failed to see Doumbe in the UFC octagon. However, the Frenchman shone like a star in his PFL debut after knocking out his opponent, Jordan Zebo, in just 9 seconds. PFL has a superstar in Doumbe, who could eventually become a champion in the promotion.
