He even recently joked about acquiring a Staph infection when he trained the former featherweight champion Alexander Volkanovski. He was the BJJ instructor of Volkanovski and also trained Israel Adesanya on occasion.

Craig Jones gives his take on contemporary lightweight grapplers in the UFC
Craig Jones is an elite grappler who has won multiple Jiu-Jitsu tournaments. As such, he has the knowledge and insight to comment on other practitioners. Looking into the grappling techniques of Islam Makhachev and Charles Oliveira, Jones made some interesting deductions.

In an interview, Craig Jones analyzed the grappling styles of the Dagestani fighters. He used Khabib Nurmagomedov and Islam Makhachev as examples and said they used to fatigue their opponents before catching a submission. Then, he compared them to Charles Oliveira, whom he claimed had the technical ability to go for submissions and finish them right from start to end. Check out what he said below:
Craig Jones’ analysis remained true as the Dagestani fighters always preferred control over submission attempts. As such, it led to drowning their opponents and eventually submitting them in the later rounds. As for Oliveira, he often compromises his position to jump on a submission, leaving him vulnerable when failed.
