“Parallel universe” – MMA fans’ hearts warm as legendary rivals Chael Sonnen and Anderson Silva get together to watch Brazilian’s documentary

Anderson Silva is a legend of mixed martial arts. And now a series ‘Anderson Spider Silva’ inspired by the life of Silva was released recently on November 16. Moreover, The Spider watched the series alongside Chael Sonnen. Silva and Sonnen were former foes but found friendship recently. This has surprised the MMA world.

Chael Sonnen made his visit to Anderson Silva’s place to watch the series. They greeted each other and started watching ‘Anderson Apider Silva’. But beforehand, they had a friendly bet that if Sonnen got emotional during their watch, he had to get a tattoo of Silva.

Both Anderson Silva and Chael Sonnen were comfortable with each other as soon as they met. Further, they had a good time watching the series. Even when their fights were showcased in the series, they remained convivial. Later, Sonnen got emotional as the series progressed and even shed a tear. As such, he lost the bet and got the tattoo of Silva on his arm, but not without a comical touch.

Anderson Silva and Chael Sonnen fought each other on two occasions. The former beat the latter both times. Their rivalry in the lead-up to their matchups was heated as Chael Sonnen trash-talked Anderson Silva every time he got the chance.

However, they put their history behind them and are now good friends as Sonnen supported Silva’s endeavor and made a grand gesture by visiting him to watch Silva’s series together.

A Brazilian series based on the life of Anderson Silva was released on November 16 by Paramount Plus. Recently, they posted a video on X promoting the series. It featured Chael Sonnen and Silva watching the series together and enjoying time together. This took the MMA world by surprise as no one expected such brotherhood between the former rivals.

As Sonnen got a tattoo of Silva on his arm, he mocked him with a few lines written below the Spider’s tattoo. Fans reacted to the meeting of the two former opponents. Here are some of the interesting reactions:

Anderson Silva reigned as the UFC middleweight champion for a long time and still holds the record for the longest championship reign in the UFC. However, Chael Sonnen couldn’t win the championship in his career. But, both are considered legends of MMA on their own terms.
