Retired MMA Veteran Nate Marquardt has stirred controversy on social media with homophobic commentary on his Twitter handle. In his Tweet, he appears to hate the idea of his children watching “two men kiss” in a commercial.
Unlike Hollywood stars, MMA fighters keep their personal lives and beliefs separate from the mainstream. We learn about a fighter’s belief system through social media interactions or during interviews. Marquardt revealed his strong Christian beliefs by quoting a line from The Bible to indicate the reason for talking cruelly about homosexuality. Fair to say, people have the right to express their opinions, but a line should never be crossed, especially when it is about a sensitive matter.
Marquardt retired with a record of 36–20–2. Having more than 50 fights in his MMA career is no easy task. Even the greatest fighters in MMA barely fight more than 30 times. Hence the longevity of Nate Marquardt is something to behold. He was also the former Strikeforce Welterweight Champion and was the first fighter to KO former UFC Welterweight Champion Tyron Woodley.

It is not hateful to say that homosexuality, pedophilia, or fornication is disgusting. It’s not loving to be silent when the culture praises things that lead people to Hell (1Cor 6:9-11). It’s not hateful, but loving to protect children from this world’s evil demented propaganda

In his career, Marquardt always fought against the best fighters around. He fought Tyron Woodley, Demian Maia, Anderson Silva, Chael Sonnen, Vitor Belfort and many others. At UFC 73 in 2007, Marquardt challenged the legendary Anderson Silva for the UFC Middleweight Championship but was knocked out in the first round by the surging Silva.

Jesus commanded His people to judge. You have taken the verse out of context. Don’t judge people for what you are doing yourself is the idea

Christians don’t live in or approve of homosexuality.

1 Corinthians 6:9-10 (ESV) 9 Or do you not know that the unrighteous will not inherit the kingdom of God? Do not be deceived: neither the sexually immoral… nor men who practice homosexuality will inherit the kingdom of God
Not afraid of anything. Actually not afraid of homos. They need salvation just like all of us. But the sin of homosexuality is not to be tolerated

1 Corinthians 5:12-13 (ESV) 12 For what have I to do with judging outsiders? Is it not those inside the church whom you are to judge? 13 God judges those outside. “Purge the evil person from among you.”

That’s not true. It normalizes a gross moral sin. Kids watching murder over and over, drug use over and over is also not good.

In the future, Marquardt might have to tone down his beliefs a bit to avoid getting banned from social media platforms after being reported for hateful comments on Twitter.
