Parents emotionally invest in their children in the majority of the cases. Such investments can cause them to do unexplainable things. The recent NCAA Division I Wrestling Championships witnessed such a moment. It was during the 125-pound semifinals between elite wrestlers Spencer Lee and Matt Ramos.
Lee was the favorite to win the match in his senior as he was already a three-time champion. Only 5 athletes have become a four-time champion in NCAA Division I Wrestling Championships. However, Ramos scored a massive upset. It took a toll on Cathy Lee, Spencer Lee’s mother. The mother who wore glasses took it off and broke it.

Cathy is a Judo practitioner and was a US Olympic alternate. Her reaction was due to the lost opportunity to become the 6th athlete to win the NCAA Division I Wrestling Championship four times. Nonetheless, Ramos could not win the tournament in the finals as Patrick Glory defeated him.
In the UFC, some fighters have family members in their corner. Stephen Thompson has his father, Ray Thompson, in his corner, and Alex Grasso‘s head coach is her uncle, Francisco Grasso. However, many criticize the presence of significant others in the corner. Fans and fighters have heavily criticized Pat Barry in the corner of Rose Namajunas and Jim West in the corner of Aspen Ladd.
