Alex Marquez’s brother and MotoGP legend Marc Marquez was forced to sit out of the 2022 MotoGP season due to a fourth operation on his right arm. The Spaniard  announced his decision to not continue with this season after the qualifying session of the Italian Grand Prix. The main reason behind the injury was his crash in Jerez in 2020 where he broke his hand. After that crash, there have been a series of operations and recovery phases since with this one currently being the last before the rider can get back to full mobility.

In recent weeks, the Repsol Honda driver was given the green signal by the doctors to start with his physio sessions. Since then, Marc Marquez has been on an intense programme to get back to full mobility as soon as possible. While the training regime has been tough on Marc, he says that his brother Alex Marquez has been closely following him all season. Alex is also a rider in the MotoGP championship racing with LCR Honda. Marc said in an interview that his brother’s presence is an important asset for him while he goes through a period of inactivity.

One of the key points at the moment is my brother, because we live together, he is training and you don’t forget. Imagine that I lived alone… it would be more difficult to go to training because when you have a long period of time sitting on the couch you become lazy,” he said.

While Marc Marquez is currently in his recovery phase, we will get to know soon as to when the Spaniard will be able to get back to racing. Meanwhile his brother Alex Marquez is currently racing with LCR Honda and is bound to switch teams next year. The Spaniard will be joining the Gresini Racing squad in 2023 which means a switch from Honda to Ducati power. When do you think Marc Marquez will return to MotoGP?
