The 2023 Mugello MotoGP weekend has been a shocker so far and that to especially for Alex Rins. The LCR Honda rider didn’t have the best of luck during the weekend and it all went into shambles during the Sprint race. The new weekend format having a sprint every race weekend has seemed to backfire a bit on Dorna. The main cause of concern being how dangerous it has gotten for the riders.
Alex Rins has gone on to become the newest example showing how dangerous the format is. The LCR Honda rider has suffered a broken right leg from his horrific crash in the Mugello MotoGP sprint. This in turn has ruled out Alex from competing in Sunday’s race. Apart from that, there id a good chance that the Honda rider won’t be able to take part in the next two races at the least.
While the whole incident was not captured on the TV cameras, it has been understood that Alex Rins went down on the fourth lap of the Sprint. Whilst Pecco Bagnaia and the Ducati boys were dominating the field, there was a different scenery at Honda. Alex was later transported to the circuit’s medical centre. It was at that place that it got confirmed that he was suffering from a broken right leg.

Alex Rins is instantly ruled out for the next three rounds at the least
The LCR Honda rider has been taken to the Careggi hospital in Florence in a medical helicopter. First scans indicated that Rins has fractured the tibia and fibula in his right leg. With the German GP at Sachsenring and Dutch TT at Assen taking place in the next two weekends, it is clear that Alex will be missing the triple header. This would be for the best in order for him to recover properly.
Alex Rins is not the only Honda rider to not participate in this MotoGP round. His former Suzuki teammate Joan Mir had a heavy crash in the second practice session which led to his finger being fractured. So far, Alex is currently 10th in the MotoGP championship. It will be interesting to see what happens in the next few weeks for the Honda rider.
