“When physically fit, Marc Marquez is still the strongest”: Jorge Lorenzo comments on the Spaniard’s current form in MotoGP
The lion never shies away from entering its den, and Marc Marquez is the perfect example of that. The six-time MotoGP World Champion has not had the best of his times in the recent years because of his multiple health issues–but he always promised to his fans that he would be back. And now, the Repsol-Honda rider seems to have returned to his old form as he scored a thunderous pole position at the Japanese Grand Prix, and continued his improvement curve ever since.
After undergoing a complex spine surgery at the Mayo Clinic in Minnesota, Marquez was confined to bed rest for many months, and the Spaniard only returned to racing again at Aragón. While the pundits were guessing that the hiatus would have chilled away at Marquez’s abilities to race to the front of the grid, the 29-year-old proved them all wrong.
Now, three-time World Championship winner Jorge Lorenzo commented on Marc Marquez’s chances of winning a race this year. The Spaniard went on to applaud Marquez for coming back to form so rapidly after his setback from the injuries.
Jorge Lorenzo believes Marc Marquez’s competitiveness in the dry will earn him a Grand Prix win in 2022
Marc Marquez’s 2022 Championship campaign has been dotted with several hiatuses that the Spaniard had to take due to health reasons. But the last hiatus after his spine surgery seems to have helped the Repsol Honda rider a lot as he has been at his best form ever since he returned to racing earlier this year at the Circuit of the Americas. Commenting on Marquez’s chances to getting a GP win, Lorenzo said, “It is very likely that Marc Márquez will win a race between now and the end of the season. There are three races left, in the dry I’ve seen him already competitive and he could win to prepare for next year.”
He also said, “It is clear that the Honda is not an easy bike, at the moment it is not very competitive and he is trying very hard to take it to the top positions. But Marc Marquez, if he is physically fit, is still the strongest.”
This comes as good news to all the Marquez fans who believe the rider is not far from winning a seventh World Championship once he gets back to his previous form. In other news, Marc Marquez has got second position in the Qualifying for the Australian MotoGP race, and he is expected to go for the win at the Phillip Island Circuit on Sunday.
