MS Dhoni expected to play with CSK until 2022

There is absolutely no doubt that Mahendra Singh Dhoni, as well as Chennai Super Kings, have a separate fan base. Dhoni has a personal space in his heart for this franchise, but no one can undermine the value Dhoni adds to the IPL. However, after his last international match, doubts and speculations have been raised about his presence on the international stage.

However, his franchise, CSK Chief Executive, Kasi Vishwanathan states that they expect the former Indian captain to lead the side till 2022. He spoke to Reuters and quoted, “We expect him to play for CSK until the 2022 edition, that is our expectations. As far as CSK is concerned, he has been the most crucial player for us, there’s no doubt about that. He has been our long-standing captain.”

Dhoni has led his franchise to lift the trophy in 2010, 2011, and 2018. Moreover, they have entered the playoffs 10 times and the finals 8, more than any other team. It is famously joked around, that the rest of the teams compete against each other to face CSK in the finals.

Watson on Dhoni’s presence in the team

His Australian Team-mate, Shane Watson commented on his captain’s leadership skills, key thinking, and amazing wicket-keeping.

He quoted, “He is an evergreen cricketer and it feels like he just doesn’t age. Look, with the kind of skills he has and the hard yards he puts in, MS can go on and play into his 40s. MS has been able to manage his body well… I am a big fan of MS and would want to see him continue playing whether it’s for CSK or internationally.”
