IPL 2020: MS Dhoni all set to become most capped player in IPL history

MS Dhoni 4

Chennai Super Kings’ (CSK) skipper MS Dhoni is all set to become the most capped player in the history of the Indian Premier League, when CSK take on Sunrisers Hyderabad (SRH) today. Dhoni’s CSK teammate Suresh Raina is the most capped player at present with 193 appearances but since Raina has withdrawn himself from the IPL due to personal reasons, Dhoni will overtake him and become the most capped player in IPL.
MS Dhoni has 193 appearances (equal with Raina) so far in the IPL with a majority of them coming for CSK. He played for Rising Pune Supergiant in the two years when CSK was banned from the IPL. In the 193 appearances, Dhoni has scored 4476 runs.
Rohit Sharma could overtake MS Dhoni

The player with the third-most appearances in the IPL is Mumbai Indians’ (MI) skipper Rohit Sharma who has 192 appearances. If CSK doesn’t qualify for the playoffs and MI do, Rohit Sharma will be able to get past or at least equal MS Dhoni to become the most capped player. Sharma became the third player to score 5000 IPL runs in MI’s win against Kings XI Punjab yesterday.
MI face SRH next on Sunday while CSK face the same team today.
