Brian France and Ross Chastain

Ross Chastain had his breakout cup series season this year with Trackhouse Racing. He led the No:1 team to the season finale and was the only driver who had a shot in the end to outrace champion Joey Logano.  He came short and finished P2 in the overall cup standing.

Chastain had been in the championship conversation throughout the year. He gained notoriety for his aggressive driving style and some ‘interesting’ comments he made off the pitch. He was able to earn back some of the respect he lost due to his attitude with an impressive move that earned him the championship 4 entry.

The Trackhouse pilot was running outside the top 10 in the final laps of the Round of 8 cut-off race. Chastain slammed his car to the side wall and accelerated the car in the last two corners of the race. This unusual move helped him to overtake Denny Hamlin, who was two seconds ahead of him, just before the finish line.

Brian France’s career with NASCAR came to an end in 2018 after he was caught driving under influence in New York. He was forced to exit the organization and his uncle Jim France took over the NASCAR leadership role. It was one of the darkest moments of Brian France’s career.

While talking to Dale Earnhardt Jr about his exit, France’s pointed out that he committed a mistake that wasn’t supposed to happen. He has already moved on from that chapter of his life.  “Obviously, made a mistake on that evening. Made a mistake, can’t happen, a mistake like that. It did happen. It’s on me. That’s just something you can’t do. It happened and life goes on,”.

Brian France later was asked about the current leadership of NASCAR. He believes his successor and current CEO Jim France is in the prime of his career. He said, “He’s in his prime now. Everyone should have an uncle like Uncle Jim,”.

He also praised his nephew Ben Kennedy who is one of the prominent officials of the sport. He said, “I’m truly having fun watching Ben Kennedy do what he’s doing. I think he has the best temperament of any of us. More measured. Calmer. More humility than any 10 people I know,”.
