The end of the 2023 NASCAR Cup series will mark the end of an era. The 2014 Cup Series Champion, Kevin Harvick, is set to retire from the premier stock car racing championship at the end of the season. Harvick, who started his career as Dale Earnhardt’s replacement, leaves a legacy close to the driver; he took over the team.

The last season is always tough and special for any driver, and it’s the same case for Harvick. He has some records, and some win to chase, and there is no doubt the 47-year-old will go all out to win his second championship. The Stewart Hass Racing veteran has the final opportunity to fulfill some promises and maybe do something crazy that he always wanted.

Harvick wants to be involved in every decision about the No:4 team this season so that everything goes as planned. He said, “I think the most important thing to check off that list now is to make sure this year goes correct. You know, I think… as everybody who’s around me knows, I want to make sure that I’m involved in everything and make sure that we dot the I’s and cross the T’s,”.

He understands it’s the last chance he has to make it right for the people surrounding him. Harvick said, “Because it’s kind of like going into your first year, your first race, and running your first race. You can only run your last season once, and I want to make sure it’s right for as many people as possible,”.

Harvick also reflected on the efforts of individuals who helped him on his path to glory. He said, “I’ve had so many people that have helped me get to that point. You can’t do any of this without people. And without the right people and the right people believing in you, it’s hard to have success.”.

Kevin Harvick is not just one of the most bellowed racers of the series. He is one of the voices of fans and drivers. Harvick’s outspoken character landed him in some clumsy situations in his youth. Still, at the same time, a mature Harvick led the drivers by sharing his opinions in public, forcing NASCAR to make changes.

NASCAR President Steve Phelps wasn’t shy in acknowledging this fact while responding to Harvick’s retirement announcement. His statement also congratulated the veteran for his accomplishment in the sport.

“With championships across several NASCAR series and a NASCAR Cup Series win total that ranks in the top 10, Kevin Harvick’s legacy as one of the all-time great drivers is secure,” Steve Phelps said.

Beyond his success inside a race car Kevin is a leader who truly cares about the health and the future of our sport — a passion that will continue long after his driving days are complete. On behalf of the France Family and all of NASCAR, I congratulate Kevin on a remarkable career and wish him the best of luck in his final season,” Steve Phelps added.
