Ross Chastain
Ross Chastain was the worst-placed Championship contender in the race starting on Phoenix. After topping the practice session, the No:1 car had disappointing qualifiers, which saw them finish P25. But the Trackhouse Racing driver didn’t give up and made solid progress throughout the race to finish P3.
If Chastain was able to start the day in the top 10, the story might have been different for Joey Logano. The driver who could upset Joey at the end stages of the race was Ross. But the near-perfect day the No:22 had and the poor start Chastain had constrained him from producing a run similar to that of Martinsville.
In his post-race interview, Chastain pointed out that his No:1 Camaro ZL1 lacked the proper grip or balance on Sunday. But he is proud of the efforts put in by him and his team, who never got upset or frustrated throughout the race.
“We didn’t have the balance in our car and the grip in our car all day to be that way. I’m proud of the effort. Nobody got upset, nobody got flustered, and we just kept working on our car all day,” Ross Chastain said.

Ross Chastain acknowledged that he isn’t sad or upset, though he expected him to be like that after the loss. He said, “I’m not sad. I’m not upset. I honestly thought when we started the playoffs that…if I lost by a little bit, I would be really upset, and I’m not.
The “Watermelon man” is proud of the whole Trackhouse garages efforts that earned him the championship P2. He said, “I’m so proud and so happy to give our first shot at these playoffs and at racing in the Cup Series with Trackhouse, and we just ran second,”.
Ross Chastain pointed out that the entire No:1 garage worked hard throughout the race to keep him in the fight. He said, “On the final pit stop, we got it right, fired off the best…we made it to the end there, and that was the best we were. We keep our world small; we all do our jobs. Everybody just put forth their best effort throughout the season, and we ended as strong as I’ve ever seen us,”.
