It would be an understatement to say Joey Logano was furious at Austin Dillon after the RCR driver won the 2024 Cook Out 400. The Team Penske Racing driver blasted the No:3 Chevy driver on his post-race interview using language he won’t be proud of at the moment, unlike Denny Hamlin who was also a victim.

Austin Dillon lined-up alongside Joey Logano with Denny Hamlin behind him on the overtime restart and found himself behind the No:22 ford till the last corner. On the final turn he wrecked Logano as well as the No:11 of Hamlin who tried to took the lead, in order to claim the win. The former Xfinity Series champion was very defensive of his action on the post-race interview and has now come forward responding to Logano’s remarks.

In his appearance in the Happy Hour podcast on Sunday, he asserted that while Hamlin kept his post-race interview solid, Logano threw some law blows over his frustration. He them reminded the veteran drivers that they have done the same in the past to win races and had defended themselves in such a situation.

I thought Denny’s [Hamlin] interview was pretty solid. Joey, I don’t know. I thought he threw some low blows in there; you know obviously frustrated in the moment. But the two guys I got into it with have done a lot that I’ve learned from on the last lap of the races themselves. I’ve heard Joey’s interviews, ‘How bad do you want it? You gotta do whatever it takes.’
Austin Dillon told Kevin Harvick.

Austin Dillon reminds Joey Logano of his controversial Martinsville crash

In 2018 R-8 cut-off race at Martinsville, Joey Logano wrecked Martin Truex Jr. to win the race and went onto to the win the championship. This remains one of the most controversial moments of the driver’s career and something fans still holds a grudge against him.

Austin Dillon reminded Joey Logano of this clash and pointed out he should move on from it. He urged him to handle the fact that he is now the victim. It seems Dillon isn’t concerned about any retaliation from the No:22 Ford.

Different things and seen him do it at Martinsville and different places on the last corner. So, this time he was a victim of it and sometimes it happens and you gotta handle things. How would I have handled my interview after the race in that situation? I don’t know.
Austin Dillon said.

The No:3 driver still has to be carefull, as Joey Logano isn’t a driver who would let such incidents slip up. He will wait for the most vital moment of Dillon season to get back on him. It would be interesting to see how the beef would playout.
