Since the 2023 season, Richard Childress Racing driver Austin Dillon is going through the hardest period of his racing career. He hasn’t been close being competitive and a contender for race wins the whole of 2023 as well as this season. What’s more disappointing is the fact that alongside him, the performance of the whole RCR squad is regressing.

Austin Dillon ended last season 29th in the point table with just five top-10 finishes while his teammate Kyle Busch secured three race wins to pull off a R-12 playoff run. This season things went from bad to worse, as with just seven more races left in the regular season, he has just scored two top-5s and 12 of his finishes were outside the top-25.

This caused rumors that Dillon might decide to retire from racing and take up a managerial role in the team to help his grandfather Richard Childress. But he has put an end to all these claims in his recent appearance in NASCAR SiriusXM radio of Danielle Trotta, where he asserted that he would continue race at least till 2026, as he has two years left in his contract.

RCR Driver Austin Dillon says 2 years left on his contract he’s committed 3 car AND says big changes coming to RCR end of this year or beginning next year. Said Kyle Busch committed to the process. Sounds like hiring at least 1 person on competition side.

Austin Dillon claims it would be harder to pass at Chicago

The RCR driver is seeking a consistent run coming into this weekend’s race at Chicago. He reckons the track position would be the key on Sunday and asserted that it would be harder to pass as the race progresses.

It will be harder to pass than it is on other road courses we go to. You will want to be at the front as much as possible and I’m confident we will be bringing a fast Camaro this weekend.
Austin Dillon said.

He is set to start Sunday’s race at P15 and would be hoping to get at least a top-10 finish surviving all the potential chaos the track offers. It would be interesting to see how good he can be on Sunday, considering the poor streak and poor luck he has.
