In the racing world, a race at Talladega is often synonymous with carnage. Moreover, the track stood out on its promise of giving a wild race with a massive pileup in Stage Three. This mega wreck was started by the spinning Ford of Brad Keselowski, who started the chain reaction down the field and made the superspeedway a graveyard of cars.
With Brad Keselowski finishing runners-up at the race in Talladega, no person could have expected that the RFK Racing driver had a major hand in the huge pile-up that took place a few laps from the end of the race. Despite starting the race from outside the top 10, the 40-year-old looked like a man on a mission and went all out to claim the throne at the Superspeedway.
The Ford driver was at the sharp end for most of the race and decided to make a move for the race’s lead. However, things turned west way earlier than he anticipated as he found himself pirouetting across the field.
The massive wreck caught out the big guns of the playoffs like Joey Logano, Chase Elliott, etc. for whom the race around the Superspeedway was essential to safeguard their place to make it into the Round of 8. Thus, throwing a spanner in the works for several drivers who got caught off guard in the massive wreck.
Brad Keselowski gave his views on the massive wreck that took place
With Keselowski finishing the race in P2, fans argued that the RFK driver deserved some sort of penalty for ruining other’s races. This laid the emphasis on the No.6 driver to defend his position while he was being criticized by the rest of the field.
Keselowski explained how he thought he was in prime position to leapfrog his rivals, but he misjudged his overspeed and the wreck was due to an unfortunate series of events. Despite him taking a sense of accountability, the Cup Series champion was deemed acquittal, as the massive wreck was considered a racing incident by the stewards.
However, the drama didn’t stop there yet, as the race saw cars engulfed in flames and much more. Thus, making the next race at Roval even more interesting as drivers would be fighting tooth and nail to get a spot in the Round of 8.
