The 2026 NASCAR Cup Series season so far hasn’t been kind to Brad Keselowski and to make matters worst it was announced two weeks before that he is set to exit RFK Racing at the end of the season. The 2012 champion wants to race more, at least for five more years, while the Ford team seems to believes it’s better the veteran take over a leadership role with the team.
Talking about all the drama over his winless streak that started since the Darlington race he won in 2024, his only win since 2022 with the team, has been a nightmare. He has finished P2 six times since, with the one moment of magic standing between him and success. In the words of the veteran, the results prove if he had a slightly better car, he would’ve won more.
I know I’m capable of way more. I mean, you’re right. I’ve only won once in the last five years, but then I’ve got like eight or nine second-place finishes and a lot of, you know, shoulda, woulda, couldas that were outside of our control. feel like in tier one equipment that I can win a lot more races.
Brad Keselowski said at Charlotte.
The veteran reiterated the comments made by the Kevin Harvick, highlighting how without the right car even the best driver can’t win a race. Brad Keselowski admitted that the RFK cars are not awful, but they are not on the tier-1 level Team Penske operates in and that is holding them back from being successful. They have real potential to be the best team for Ford with the right support.
When you’re not in the right opportunity, it doesn’t matter who you are as a driver. There’s a little Kevin Harvick saying you can’t make a slow race car go fast, and you can’t drive a slow race car fast. It’s just how it is. And I don’t think our cars are awful, but clearly we’re not tier one. And, you know, I’m proud of the work that we put in, and I’m proud of where I’m at as a driver and, you know, I feel comfortable in tier one that I could win races. Yeah, there’s always been potential for RFK to be tier one, yes.

Brad Keselowski is discussing some solid opportunities
Earlier in the same conversation, the future Hall of Famer highlighted that he has been having some key conversations with different NASCAR stake holders over a 2027 season. He has some solid opportunities to take advantage of ahead of him despite the uncertainty over his form.

There’s a lot of behind-the-scenes chatter and things that happen that don’t always make their way to you guys. So, I would say that there’s some really good opportunities.
Brad Keselowksi said.
The former champion also talked about his approach towards the current situation and explained how he is remaining positive. He understands changes are part of his life. The veteran has always been ready to face the highs and lows of life, making the RFK exit just another chapter.
Yeah, I mean, change is a part of life. It’s not always the best, most fun part of life. But, you know, it’s a bit of a roller coaster. And when it stops, you’re dead. The highs and lows keep coming. And that just means I’m not dead.
Brad Keselowski asserted.
The comments from the veteran racer are on point and shows how the passion for racing still fuels him to do good. It would be interesting to see how everything is going to playout for the star driver in the upcoming years in NASCAR.
