The NASCAR Cup Serie race at Chicago was a dramatic event that saw multiple run-ins and wrecks. Hendrick Motorsports’ Alex Bowman secured an impressive win taking advantage of defending race winner Shane van Gisbergen’s early race wreck and Tyler Reddick not having enough pace and time towards the end of the race to re-take the lead.

Towards the end of the race, there was another incident involving Hendrick Motorsports’ 2020 Cup championship winner Chase Elliott and Trackhouse Racing’s Daniel Suarez. The No:99 Chevy and No:9 Chevy made multiple contacts towards the end of the race and a slight mistake from the Trakhouse driver saw the HMS driver getting a really bad hit on the last laps.

After the race, the duo had a conversation about the incident. Chase Elliott was seen confronting Suarez. Both were really animated while explaining what actually went wrong and fortunately it didn’t take much time for both to share their views on the incident good enough that it didn’t escalate into a fight.

The incident did cost Elliott, who is a regular season championship contender some good points as he was able to only secure a P21 at the end while Suarez finished P11. If the incident didn’t happen Elliott could have overtaken Kyle Larson in the points table as the No:5 Chevy driver DNFed after an early race crash.

Daniel Suarez explains the clash with Chase Elliott

The Trackhouse driver while talking to the media after the race admitted he made the mistake that caused the incident between the two. He admitted that his attempt to hit the No:9 Chevy just went mad and ended up hitting him.

He pushed me a little bit and then I pushed him with all my intention and I ended up hitting him pretty good on the very last corner. My bad on that.
Daniel Suarez said.

The duo will easily get over the incident soon as both have their owns goals for the reminder of the regular season to focus on. Elliott will be eying for the regular season championship while Suarez would be hoping to get back to running consistently upfront.
