The 2024 NASCAR cup playoff will start this Sunday with Round of 16 opener at the Atlanta Motor Speedway. It is expected to be one of the craziest playoff rounds of all-time as it features three races that are notorious for being wildcard events. It guarantees that at least a big-name driver would get eliminated in the first round of post-season.

The plate race at Atlanta will be followed road course madness at Watkins Glen and the cut-off race will be hosted by Bristol Motor Speedway. This fabricated craziness will either make the round the most chaotic or the most entertaining ever. 2020 Cup champion Chase Elliott recently shared his opinion on the same.

The HMS star pointed out that the R-16 needs to respect and asserted that it won’t be a cakewalk for anyone involved. He pointed out that the round would be crazy and admitted that it is just fabricated craziness from NASCAR. Elliott believes a normal playoff race in the Superspeedway isn’t post-season.

The first round definitely needs to be respected because it’s not a cakewalk by any means. That is what you get when you have these short rounds and every year, we put another speedway in there and you are going to get craziness. You keep fabricating this stuff and that is what you are going to get.

While further talking about the upcoming race Chase Elliott also admitted that it would hard to figure out how the races would playout and will be hard to plan for it.

And I don’t know that we knew why that happened in the spring, but if they successfully fabricate craziness, then yeah, its going to be wild…So, I think in the scenarios you are asking about, you just have to be there and get in there and try to figure it out. Because some of those things are going to be hard to plan for.

The points made by Chase Elliott makes a lot of sense and it would be interesting to see how the races would playout. NASCAR might get the craziness they asked for, but it doesn’t guarantee that the fans are going to love it.
