Chase Elliott has been the leading driver for Hendrick Motorsports in the 2026 NASCAR Cup Series season, as it marked the first year since 2022, where he has had more consistence pace than teammates Kyle Larson and William Byron. He secured his second win of the year at Texas Motor Speedway, solidifying his P3 spot in the points table.
It was the fastest the racer from Georgia has secured a multi-win season in the elite division. He scored that triumph taking advantage of the Christopher Bell wreck from lead and the speed advantage he had over Denny Hamlin on the last laps. What makes it special is the fact that the win came at a track where he has a disappointing record.
I’ve not been a huge fan of this place (Texas Motor Speedway), and I’ve made that very obvious.
Chase Elliott told Fox Sports post-race.

The execution on and off the track from the No:9 team was the key to the success. They have been working hard behind the scenes, and they have found ways to win, despite the fact that most often than not the cars haven’t been what they want. He finds it crazy they’ve been able to win multiple race at a venue that never rewarded their efforts in the past.
But I really think this is a testament to the whole No. 9 team, but not just the 9 team but everyone at Hendrick Motorsports. Because we’ve not been where we wanted to be throughout portions of this season, but, man, everyone’s just been digging in really hard. … Just crazy. As much as we’ve struggled out here, to have won two races here now in the last few years is pretty wild.
Chase Elliott added.
Further talking about the point, the No:9 Chevy driver Chase Elliott also credited his teammate Alex Bowman, who finished the race P3. He admitted that if not for the great push from the No:48 Chevy before the turn on the final restart gave him better momentum than the No:11 Toyota of Denny Hamlin, who was giving him a run for his money.
I wasn’t really sure whether to go top or bottom, and the bottom had been winning out on a lot of the restarts. I just felt like if I didn’t clear off of (turn) two I would’ve been in trouble. Fortunately, Alex gave me a great push and I was able to execute turns 1-2 and get clear, and managed the last few laps.
Chase Elliott asserted.

Later in the same conversation the 2020 cup Series champion reiterated that important role the whole HMS crew played in his success. The grittiness and willingness to work beyond the regular hours has enabled the team to remain dominant.

Really fortunate and proud of everybody at Hendrick Motorsports for their continued efforts to just dig in. We have a gritty group back home that they just don’t take no for an answer. They’ll just work and work and work. Whatever has got to be done, get done. Friday, Saturday, midnight, 2:00, whatever. They want to win, and the boss wants to win, and we’ll do whatever we got to do to try our best for that.
Chase Elliott said.
The comments from the veteran details the win at any cost mentality that has helped Rick Hendrick to make HMS the greatest team in the history of the sport. It would be interesting to see how the reminder of the season is going to playout for the rest of the year.
